HispanoFest is compiled of local business owners, Village of Melrose Park employees, community volunteers and the continued support of the Mayor of Melrose Park Ronald Serpico.
HispanoFest is also a non-profit 503(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and also classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A)(vi).
HispanoFest promotes the advancement to the Hispanic Community through educational and leadership development.
HispanoFest is possible because of the ongoing fundraising of
our major sponsors, our sales of booths and the vendor commitment. We have accomplished our goals by fundraising through the residents and business owners in the community.
This major event allows the committee to award scholarships to
local Hispanic students that live in the surrounding suburbs and are currently attending a college, university, or a trade school.
Over the past 20 years HispanoFest has awarded 140 Scholarships.
Melrose Park is centrally located and is only 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. It is surrounded by Stone Park (73% Hispanic),Franklin Park (75% Hispanic), Northlake (75% Hispanic), Maywood (45% Hispanic) and others.
Population: 23,300 (DCEO) 62% Hispanic.
Total number of families: 7,631 (2000 census).
Families with children under age of 18: 24% (2000 census).
Median age: 30.6 years (2000 census).
Percentage population over 65: 10.9% (2000 census).
